EOLIAN SAILING
An island to discover
In ancient times the island was called Therasia. Later it took the name of Hiera, because it was sacred to the god Vulcan; hence its current name: Vulcano. According to Greek mythology, on this island placed the Forges of Hephaestus, god of fire and blacksmith who had as helpers the Cyclops, which the Romans called Vulcan, a name that was then given to the island.
Over the years the volcano has never ceased to prove its vitality. Even today, in fact, different phenomena can be observed: the bubbling fumaroles in the middle of the sea of sulphurous mud with appreciated therapeutic properties.
A LOVELY PLACE
The island of Vulcano
The island is beautiful to visit, both by land and by sea.
Do not miss the pool of thermal mud, the bath in its warm waters, heated by the leakage of hot gases from the seabed, the Black Sands Beach, equipped with tourist facilities.
Finally, the climb to the crater, thanks to which, once you get to the top, you can enjoy a spectacular view that will project you into a surreal world.
But it is only through navigation that you can access the most beautiful places: the Grotta del Cavallo, the Piscina di Venere, the beaches to the south and the numerous coves to the west.
